Fort Stanton, New Mexico

Building E: Quartermaster's Quarters
Built: 1855

The original Quartermaster's Quarters was in ruins when the Union solders retook the fort from the Confederate army in 1866 and was rebuilt by 1873. Over the years, the front elevation of this building has undergone the greatest change, with replaced windows, changed doors and roof modifications. Inside, the original partition walls have been removed.

  c1873: Company quarters
  1877: Hospital
  1878: Barracks
  1893: Canteen
  1933: Dining Room, Protestant Chapel
  1941: Same, plus Dormitory
  Present: Vacant
