Fort Stanton, New Mexico

Building C: Officers' Quarters
Built: 1855

This building evolved from a very simple, gable-ended building to one more fashionable and comfortable with its bay windows, classic columned porches, dormers and gambrel roof. Later, the entire interior was changed to suit a patient use. When the building was modified for hospital use, the interior plan was completely changed with a center corridor and rooms to each side.

Use: 1866: Officers' Quarters
  1900: Professional Staff Quarters
  1960s: Patient Housing
  Present: Vacant
